Ultimate Wellness Tea

I was sick as a dog over the weekend. Runny nose, sore throat, general feeling of doom…not a pleasant experience to say the least.

I tweaked an existing tea blend that I’ve relied on since childhood to get me through exceptionally bad colds. After a few cups, I felt positively asymptomatic. Try it out the next time you are feeling under the weather.

Ultimate Wellness Tea
You will need…

3 parts of chamomile, echinacea, peppermint, licorice root, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root, and wild cherry bark

to every 1 part of diced dried ginger, dried lemongrass, cinnamon bark, dried orange peel, dried lemon peel, and whole star anise

1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

teaball or cheesecloth for steeping

Combine all herbs and spices, pulse in a food processor until cut into small bits, and store in an airtight canister.

To make a cup of tea, fill a teaball or teabag-sized bit of cheesecloth with the tea blend. Place in your favorite mug, fill with boiling water, and steep covered with a saucer for 10 minutes. Add the honey, then sprinkle the cayenne over the top. Stir to combine, and drink 2-3 cups to combat stuffy/runny nose, sore throat, or hoarseness from coughing.
